Successful investment & commissioning of germination box 7
We are pleased to share the following news with you from our malthouse: our brand new germination box No 7, which was built according to the latest hygienic standards, has now been successfully put into operation, to the delight of everyone involved!
All machines and systems were of course thoroughly tested in advance. All processes had to be checked and further fine-tuning made, which was done by our diligent team.
For this purpose, the germination box was filled with freshly steeped grain for the first time. 100 tons of barley poured into the Saladin box and germinated for several days.
This increases our green malt capacity for the production of caramel malt by a further 100 tons/week.
The new red and yellow germination box is part of the extensive reconstruction of our historical malthouse. Here the building is being completely redesigned from the inside out. Inside there is room for the most modern systems and on the outside the familiar historical Weyermann® ambience is retained – a perfect symbiosis of old and new.
We are thrilled to reach this milestone. With this positive news we get new energy to realize our further goals.
We thank our employees and all companies involved
The following companies played a key role in this project and our special thanks thus go to architecture office Bottler, engineering office Schlicht + Fischer, construction company Angermüller, tile company Drescher, company Lausmann for the germination box plant and the company Gerlitz for the control technology.
In addition to the planning, our employees in the electrical engineering and locksmith’s department also took on the line construction and other crucial construction measures.
What a remarkable teamwork!
