Weyermann® Brew Manufacture journeyman Johannes Hartmann is Germany’s best young brewer 2024

It is with great pleasure and pride that we congratulate Johannes Hartmann, journeyman at Weyermann® Brew Manufacture , on being awarded the title of Germany’s best young brewer 2024!

He won the competition against the best young brewers and maltsters in Germany and was crowned national winner in the craft of brewing and malting on November 12.

This outstanding achievement not only underlines his talent and passion for the craft, but also confirms the excellence of the Franconian brewing tradition and the quality of training in our region.

Johannes Hartmann’s journey as a brewer and maltster began with an apprenticeship at our long-standing Weyermann® customer, Brauerei-Gasthof Kundmüller in Viereth-Trunstadt, where he laid the foundation for his career.

Since October 2024 Johannes Hartmann complements the team of our Weyermann® Brew Manufacture around master brewer Constantin Förtner, where he further refines his skills as a journeyman brewer and maltster.

The day after the award ceremony, we welcomed Radio Bamberg reporter Jutta Schindler and her colleague to our brewery for an interview. In this interview, Johannes not only talked about his victory, but also about his experiences and the passion that drives him.

As the 2024 national winner, Hartmann will represent Weyermann® Brew Manufacture and the brewing and malting craft at the closing ceremony of the German Craft Skills Championships, which will take place in Berlin at the beginning of December. There he will once again be honored by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) together with the national winners from 130 other craft trades.
