Weyermann® Brewing Barley Producer Award – Harvest 2023 Plant Clingen
At the beginning of the month we traditionally awarded the Weyermann® Brewing Barley Producer Award to our local farmers – this week the prize was awarded to our farmers in Clingen, who deliver their products directly to our production site there.
Clingen is located in the Thuringian Basin. The region is one of the best growing areas for barley in Germany. The climatic conditions and soil composition allow barley to grow excellently and bring unique terroir notes into the grain.
With the Weyermann® Brewing Barley Producer Award we reward the special merits of our farmers to provide high quality brewing barley and at the same time strengthen our red and yellow bond!
The lovely event began in a relaxed atmosphere with coffee and cake. Weyermann® managing director fourth generation Thomas Kraus-Weyermann then took the floor and officially welcomed the guests of honor. This was followed by a short presentation of the location by operations manager Jens Hell before it was time for the highlight of the day, the award ceremony.
As part of this, each farmer received a hand-made and hand-painted plate from the traditional pottery workshop Schnauder & Sanke in Thurnau, a Weyermann® polo shirt embroidered with his name and a copy of the Weyermann® history.
This time the Weyermann® brewing barley producer award went to: Marcus Volkhardt from the agricultural cooperative Mülverstedt e.G. in Schönstedt-Neuschönstedt, Eckhardt Hunstock from the Agrarprodukte GmbH Großvargula in Großvargula and Lebrecht Weiß from the agricultural cooperative „Am Horn“ in Hornsömmern.
As at our event in Bamberg, a delicious 4-course menu with a perfect choice of Weyermann® brew specialties rounded off the successful day.
We thank our farmers for the fruitful cooperation, their loyalty to Weyermann® Malts and wish them continued a good hand in the cultivation of brewing barley!
We thank our efficient Weyermann® organization team for the wonderful preparation and support of the event!
